There we were on Daddy’s knee,
Just as happy as we could be.
Bedtime story-a special time,
Everything so good and fine.

That’s one good memory
Of the years I grew….
But where did that innocent
Little girl go?

In other memories she is so sad
(And so afraid–especially of Dad).
So terrified God will never forget
The guilty scenes that haunt her yet.

The guiding word of her life was fear
Of anyone who tried to get near.
She looked for comfort but found there was none–
Surely, there was nowhere for her to run.
